The tools most commonly used for mixing ingredients in traditional Thai cooking is the mortar and Pestle. There are different types for different foods. Here you can see we are using a stone mortar and pestle to make a curry paste but when making a Thai salad such as Som Tum, we would generally use a wooden mortar and pestle.
